A little about me and my mission.
Hi! I'm Penny Oliver, and I'm the heart, soul and design maniac behind Breaking Down Walls (BDW). I have worn many hats in my 51 years; wife, mother, teacher, homeschooler, professional artist (www.DiagnosisART.com), portrait photographer, designer, project manager, business owner, etc... Always at the heart of these ventures has been my passion for people and the improvement of their lives in some way. I am supportive in nature and believe that seeking joy and beauty are key to a happy life.
My mission with BDW? It's simple: To create spaces that make the heart sing while also enriching the lives of my clients and their loved ones. The outcome of the remodeling experience can be both artistically satisfying and personally or relationally positive. With change comes the opportunity for growth and that is what inspires me!
So, here's the deal: I'm not just about making a place look good. With an MA in Applied Psychology and a BA in Painting and Design, plus a lifetime of building and designing, I know that changing your space is really about changing your life. I'm here to guide you through this journey, creating spaces that are as much about feeling good as they are about looking good.
I am also a professional artist with 15 years of working with physicians and their families to create one of a kind paintings. My art business, www.DiagnosisART.com has been an ongoing passion project that has taken my artwork all over the world. I still take a couple commissions per year and love the way those works stretch my mind and comfort zone.
I also paint landscapes and nature for myself, my social media and for commissions - see "ART" in the main menu.
But wait, there's more! Nature is my muse and I love traveling. I read psychology books and historical fiction and non-fiction. I am excited by color and love the water. Scuba is my favorite water activity. I have three grown children I delight in sharing this life with as well as a partner who keeps me grounded and feeds my soul.
All of these things influence my work, bringing a sense of life, warmth, and connection to every project.
I hope to share some stories and remodeling experiences with you on my blog page- Take a look!
